PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a catalyst for an electrode which, as compared with a conventional Pt/C catalyst, has catalytic activity and durability at a level endurable for practical use and can contribute to the low cost.SOLUTION: A catalyst for an electrode has a carrier and a catalyst particle carried on the carrier. The catalyst particle has a core part, a first shell formed on the core part and a second shell part formed on the first shell part. The core part include a W compound including at least W carbide. The first shell part includes Pd single substance and the second shell part includes Pt single substance.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
