PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing silicon for a solar cell at a high yield using a carbon reduction method.SOLUTION: There is provided a method for producing silicon for a solar cell which comprises a step of heating and reducing high-purity silicon dioxide as a raw material with carbon at 1500 to 2200°C in the presence of a catalyst which is one selected from the group consisting of nickel, titanium, aluminum, copper, niobium, nickel silicide, cobalt, chromium, zinc, gold, silver, zinc oxide, yttrium oxide, a magnesium-nickel alloy, calcium oxide and lanthanum oxide and a mixture thereof.SELECTED DRAWING: None |
