Provided are a positive electrode active material for a lithium secondary battery, and a positive electrode active material layer and a lithium secondary battery including the same. The positive electrode active material comprises a coating layer including a lithium nickel-based oxide particle and a diamond-like carbon enclosing the lithium nickel-based oxide particle. The lithium nickel-based oxide particle includes a nickel-containing metal and lithium, and includes more than 60 atom% of nickel with respect to the total atomic weight of the nickel-containing metal. A SP^2/SP^3 ratio of the coating layer is 50/50 to 60/40.
