PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enhance the cycle characteristic of an air secondary battery.SOLUTION: An air secondary battery 10 comprises: a positive electrode 12 supplied with an oxygen-containing gas; a negative electrode 14 including a metal active material; and an electrolyte 16 interposed between the positive electrode 12 and the negative electrode 14. The positive electrode 12 includes a first positive electrode layer 20 and a second positive electrode layer 22 which are different from each other in e.g. an average pore diameter. During discharge, a reaction in which oxygen in the oxygen-containing gas combines with a metal ion produced from the metal active material and then moved in the electrolyte 16 is caused in the positive electrode 12 and thus, a metal oxide is produced. The first positive electrode layer 20 smaller in average pore diameter, which is adjacent to the electrolyte 16, captures the metal oxide.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1 |
