PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a superconducting electromagnet device capable of consuming storage magnetic energy rapidly.SOLUTION: In a superconducting electromagnet device having a superconducting coil L1, a coiled electrothermal heater L2 wound coaxially with the superconducting coil, a diode D1 connected in series with the electrothermal heater and controlling the energization, an excitation power supply for exciting the superconducting coil, and a permanent current switch 1 for feeding a permanent current to the superconducting coil, when normal conducting transition takes place in a part of the superconducting coil and the coil current is attenuated, the electrothermal heater is heated by inducing an electromotive force in the coiled electrothermal heater coupled magnetically, and the thermally contacting superconducting coil is subjected to quench-induction, thus preventing local energy consumption in the superconducting coil, and protecting the superconducting electromagnet device.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 2 |
