PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an information processing apparatus configured to actuate a device connected externally by means of an application, while properly associating the device with an application without updating a device driver when the new application is installed.SOLUTION: An information processing apparatus 200 registers and updates information for managing an image reading apparatus 100 and association information of a predetermined application, regardless of an installation state of a device driver 303, on a device management registry. On receipt of event information, a button monitor 307 searches for an application corresponding to a received device ID, to start a found application.
