PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a vinyl alcoholic copolymer for which the viscosity stability of aqueous solution is excellent and from which a molding can be obtained, the molding having high water resistance, having excellent dimensional stability at a high humidity, and having high mechanical strength.SOLUTION: A vinyl alcoholic copolymer comprises a monomer unit represented by the formula (I) with a ratio (Mw/Mn) between a weight average molecular weight (Mw) and a number average molecular weight (Mn) being 2.1-3.5 (where, Ris a hydrogen atom or a C1-C3 straight-chain alkyl group, X is -(CH)-, and m is an integer of 1-5).SELECTED DRAWING: None |
