PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide: lubricant which can reduce loads on the global environment, has excellent compatibility with a base oil, and further has an excellent viscometric property, lubricity, and heat resistance; and to provide a lubricant composition using the lubricant.SOLUTION: The lubricant contains a polyester polyol comprising a condensation product of a castor oil fatty acid which may be condensed and/or an ester thereof with an alkylene oxide adduct of a 2 to 6-valent active hydrogen group-containing compound.
