PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image reading apparatus which is capable of improving an appearance quality and making a wiring table appropriately follow oscillation and vertical movement of an opening/closing part, and a manufacturing method thereof.SOLUTION: A main body part 8 includes: an introduction part 150 which is positioned in a peripheral region E1 neighboring to a document support surface 81A in the main body part 8, for pulling in a wiring cable W1 that is pulled out of an opening/closing position 9 in a direction from the side of a counter surface 89T confronting the opening/closing part 9 at a closing position to the inside of the main body part 8; and an opening part 170 for pulling out the wiring cable W1 that is pulled in from the introduction part 150 and passes the inside of the main body part 8. An image reading apparatus 1 further includes a holding member 100 that is fitted in the opening part 170 for holding the wiring cable W1 while keeping such sagging W1S as to follow the oscillation and vertical movement of the opening/closing part 9. The holding member 100 includes a first guide part 110 for guiding the sagging W1S in a specific direction D within the main body part 8.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 8
