PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the problem that, in the case an anode 10 has InGaN on the surface, carbon dioxide is not reduced, and oxygen and hydrogen are generated at a cathode and an anode, respectively.SOLUTION: Provided is a method for reducing carbon dioxide where an anode electrode having a laminate of a photoelectric conversion layer, a metallic layer and an InGaN layer (0<x≤1) is used; the InGaN layer being an i type or an n type. The metallic layer is held between the photoelectric conversion layer and the InGaN layer. When the anode electrode is irradiated with light, the part of the first light included in the light is absorbed by the InGaN layer, and the part of the second light included in the light passes through the InGaN layer. The part of the second light is absorbed by the photoelectric conversion layer, and the photoelectric conversion layer is power-generated. The part of the second light has a wavelength longer than the part of the first light. Carbon dioxide included in a first electrolyte is reduced on a cathode electrode.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1A |
