777,955. Bladed rotors and stators of turbines and compressors. RUSTON & HORNSBY, Ltd. June 14, 1955 [July 6, 1954], No. 13192/54. Class 110 (3). In a bladed rotor or stator of an hydraulic, steam or gas turbine or an axial-flow compressor, the spacers of a set of spacers between adjacent blades of a circumferential row of blades are of different circumferential dimensions one from another. In the axial-flow compressor shown, the stator blades 11 of a circumferential row are mounted in grooves in the two halves of the stator casing 25 and the blade roots are spaced apart by means of spacers 28, 29 ... 37, the circumferential widths of the spacers increasing in arithmetic progression from 28 to 37. The spacers in the two stator halves may be similarly bladed whereby the lower half is a mirror image of the upper half. Alternatively, the spacers of the two halves may be arranged as shown so that spacers at diametrically-opposed points are of equal circumferential dimension. Again the spacers may be disposed at random around the circumferential assembly of blades. The object of the invention is to reduce or avoid the harmful effects of resonance. |
