PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve encoding efficiency.SOLUTION: A reduction part 41 of a motion vector detection part 32 generates a reduced macro block (SMB) obtained by reducing a macro block (MB) at a prescribed reduction rate. A statistic processing part 42 generates a pattern selection information (statistic motion vector MVS) to select one reduced image among reduced images with a plurality of patterns, which are prepared in the reduction part 41. A motion search part 43 selects one of a plurality of the reduced images and searches the reduced reference image thereof based on the pattern selection information (statistic motion vector MVS) to detect the motion vector SMV of the reduced macro block. A motion search part 44 performs motion search for every macro block forming the processing unit of the motion search within a search range corresponding to the motion vector SMV input from the motion search part 43, and detects the motion vector MV of an object macro block.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 2 |
