PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an elevator which has a simple structure, and which can maintain excellent energy efficiency and power transmission capacity.SOLUTION: A first rigging (3) for the elevator includes a belt-like first rope (r) for connecting an elevator car (1) vertically movable in an elevator hoistway (H) and a balance weight (2), and the rope (r) travels on the periphery of a first rope wheel (4) in the vicinity of an upper end of the hoistway (H). A second rigging (5) includes a toothed belt-like second rope (R) for connecting the elevator car (1) and the balance weight (2), and the rope (R) travels on the periphery of second rope wheels (6, 7) in the vicinity of a lower end part of the hoistway (H). The first and second ropes (r, R) include load support members (c, C) respectively, and each of the load support members (c, C) is formed by a composite material including reinforcing fiber (F) embedded in a polymer matrix (m). The second rope wheels (6, 7) include the toothed drive wheel (6) engaged with the toothed belt-like second rope (R). A motor (M) rotates the drive wheel (6).SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1 |
