A guide for an axially reciprocating body disposed within a cylinder, the body, the cylinder and the guide being assembled at an assembly temperature and operating at a lower temperature, the guide having a lower coefficient of thermal expansion than both the body and the cylinder, whereby the gap between the guide and the cylinder is smaller than the gap between the reciprocating body and the cylinder, such that the guide serves a guiding function at lower operating temperatures, and sliding contact is maintained between the guide and the cylinder at both the assembly temperature and the operating temperature. |
