Method involves contact of sample containing amine, with a salt solution, containing 2,2',2",6,6',6"-hexametoxytritil carbocation, and subsequent determination of conjugates by high-performance liquid chromatography and mass spectrometry. Method is suitable for volatile amines low mass and polar aminoglycoside compounds.
