FIELD: physics, computer engineering.SUBSTANCE: invention relates to computer engineering. A method of encoding an image comprising N≥2 sections includes generating, for each section from the said N sections, an encoded section representation based on pixel values at pixels in the said section; setting a section flag associated with the first section from the N sections to the first determined value; setting, for each section from the N-1 remaining sections from the N sections, a section flag associated with the said section to the second determined value; generating, for each section from the N-1 remaining sections, a section address which enables to identify the position of the first section coding unit within the image; generating an encoded image representation for the image comprising the said N encoded section representation, N-1 section addresses and N section flags; and determining the length of N-1 section addresses in terms of the number of bits as one of ceil(log(P)) and ceil(log(P-l)), where ceil( ) denotes a ceiling function, which is defined as ceil(x)=x, and a ceiling of not less than x is output, and P denotes the total number of possible section addresses in the said image.EFFECT: improved identification of the beginning of sections for the first sections in an image.19 cl, 13 dwg |
