Class 123(1) A disc-shaped, consumable anode 25, for example, of magnesium, has a central boss 26 with a coaxial bore 27 of slightly smaller diameter than a tube 28 which is pressed into the bore, thereby ensuring a complete electrical connection between the tube and the anode metal. Each end of the tube 28 is welded to a rod 31 which passes through the tube, the rod ends being welded to the structure 34 to be protected. In modifications, the anode consists of a number of thin aluminium, &c. plates bolted together and bored to receive a pressure-fitted tube or a single block of anode metal provided with pressed-in conductor tubes. |
