Provided are an electrophotographic toner and a production method thereof. The toner of the present invention contains latex, a colorant, and a releasing agent, and further includes zinc (Zn), iron (Fe), and silicon (Si). With regard to the strength of zinc [Zn], the strength of iron [Fe], and the strength of silicon [Si] measured by fluorescent X-rays, the value of [Zn]/[Fe] ranges approximately from 5.0 x 10^(-2) to 2.0, whereas that of [Si]/[Fe] ranges approximately from 5.0 x 10^(-4) to 5.0 x 10^(-2).
