779,847. Contacting liquids with gases. WRENE, N. T. June 24, 1955 [Nov. 10, 1954], No. 18388/55. Class 55 (2). Gases to be purified by contact with a liquid are introduced through a U-shaped conduit 1 arranged in a vessel 2 containing water and a rotating cylinder 3 which sprays the gases through a gap 6 in the lower wall of the conduit, the washed gases leave through a device 9 for removing excess moisture. The lower wall of the conduit has a second gap 19 which enables any heavier particles in the gases to be discharged directly into the water in the vessel 2. In a modification a number of units of the type described may be arranged in series with a common feed of liquid to the rotors. Parts of the apparatus liable to corrosion may be coated with polyvinyl chloride. |
