Anti-corrosive coating compositions for metals comprise chlorinated rubber, a tertiary heterocyclic base and cupric oxide or hydroxide. The heterocyclic base may be pyridine, quinoline or picoline or substitution products thereof or it may be a mixture of such bases. The composition may also contain finely divided silicon dioxide, aluminium trioxide, titanium dioxide, zirconium dioxide or ferric oxide. Exemplary compositions are (1) chlorinated rubber, chlorinated paraffin, coumarone-indene resin, cupric oxide, pyridine and solvents and (2) chlorinated rubber, neoprene, dioctyl phthalate cupric oxide, quinoline, pyrogenous silicon dioxide and solvents.
