An embodiment of the present invention relates to an apparatus and a method for autonomous battery balancing. The autonomous battery balancing apparatus comprises: at least one discharge resistor coupled to each battery cell in a battery module composed of at least one battery cell; and at least one diode configured to cell-balance a voltage of the battery cell through the coupled discharge resistor by making a current flow in the reversal direction of the diode when the voltage of the battery cell exceeds a preset threshold voltage. |
