1. An image forming apparatus forming an image on a recording medium, the image forming apparatus comprising:
a photosensitive member configured to be rotated; an exposure device configured to expose the photosensitive member to light to form an electrostatic latent image on the photosensitive member; a detection device to which a voltage is applied; a measurement device configured to measure a current flowing to the detection device; and a control unit configured to execute a detection mode in which an electrostatic latent image is formed on the photosensitive member and the measurement device detects a change in the current relative to the electrostatic latent image, wherein, in the detection mode, the control unit causes a potential difference between the electrostatic latent image and the detection device to be smaller as a layer thickness of the photosensitive member is more reduced.
