A projection-type display device (1) is provided with the following: a main body unit (10) having a projection optical system that projects an image towards a projection surface (110), and a detection optical system that obtains an imaging signal on the basis of non-visible light; and a non-visible light radiation unit (30) that radiates non-visible light along a surface in the vicinity of the projection surface when the non-visible light radiation unit is disposed over an extension surface of the projection surface. The main body portion can move relative to an emission opening (31) of the non-visible light radiation unit, and the position of the main body unit can be adjusted relative to the projection surface.
