The present invention relates to an apparatus and a method for restraining microbial propagation on a surface of an evaporator for a vehicle air conditioning apparatus. The apparatus comprises: a blower for forming air flow; an evaporator (evaporator core) for air conditioning; a heater core through which engine coolant passes for heating; a temperature control door; an indoor and outdoor air mode door; a mode door; and a controller for controlling the same. More specifically, the present invention provides an apparatus and a method for restraining microbial propagation by heating an evaporator by means of a heat resource of the heater core to only control operation of the temperature control door without an additional apparatus.
