PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a catalyst that can achieve a hydrogenation reaction having a high conversion rate as well as a high selectivity from the beginning of hydrogenation reaction.SOLUTION: The present invention relates to: 1. a pretreatment method for hydrogenation catalyst in which the hydrogenation catalyst is treated by ketones and/or alcohols having a boiling point under ordinary pressure of 300°C or less; and 2. a pretreatment method for hydrogenation catalyst in which the hydrogenation catalyst is brought into contact with ketones and/or alcohols having a boiling point under ordinary pressure of 300°C or less, and is super heated.SELECTED DRAWING: None
