METHOD FOR PERFORMING AN INSTALLATION-PLANNING AND ENGINEERING PHASE

The performance of distributed computer system (DCS) engineering or of the engineering phase is ordinarily effected only after conclusion of process-engineering installation planning, which has an adverse effect on the timing of the transition to installation operation or which slows down the transition to installation operation. Measures are proposed that are used to shorten the installation-planning and engineering phase, which are parts of the installation life cycle, and to allow the transition to installation operation more quickly. The invention relates to a software tool and a corresponding method for performing an installation-planning and engineering phase, wherein during process-engineering installation planning, an installation planning tool (software tool) is used to produce an installation model and then only those inputs and outputs of the modules that are relevant in terms of process engineering are connected up and the installation is simulated in this manner, and finally the modules are connected up completely, i.e. the inputs and outputs that are relevant in terms of automation engineering are also connected up.
