The present invention relates to a telescopic sight (1) for a firearm, having an external housing (2) and at least one manually adjustable sighting adjustment mechanism (3, 3') that comprises a manual adjustment control (12, 12') mounted on the housing and a movable plunger (30). The optical system of the sight comprises an adjustable sighting assembly (10) with at least one movable member (42) for adjusting the sighting of the telescopic sight. The plunger (30) is slidably engaged in a port in the housing to link the manual adjustment control with the movable member whereby, in use, `manual adjustment of the manual adjustment control causes the plunger to slide in the port and move the movable member to make the sighting adjustment. The slideable engagement is such that the housing interior (40) remains atmospherically sealed as the plunger slides in the port. The manual adjustment control (12, 12') is removably affixed (28, 29, 31) to the housing, and the manual adjustment control is fully separable from the plunger which remains slidably engaged and retained in the port when the manual adjustment control is removed from the housing,in order to maintain the atmospheric seal of the housing interior. |
