The present invention relates to a compound based on coumarin hemicyanine structure for selectively detecting peroxynitrite. According to the present invention, the compound based on a coumarin hemicyanine structure maintains the structure in environment inside cells and has a changed fluorescence or absorption spectrum by selectively reacting with exogenous or endogenous peroxynitrite. Therefore, the compound of the present invention is useful to detect peroxynitrite in cells.
