According to an embodiment of the present invention, disclosed is a method for managing a main memory database, which is performed in a computing apparatus which comprises one or more processors and main memory for storing commands executable by the processors. The method for managing a main memory database comprises the steps of: placing a first version in a first region of the main memory comprising two or more regions having a first region and a second region by allocating some of the first region to the first version which is the longest version of a plurality of versions of data; placing a second version in a second region of the main memory by allocating some of the second region to the second version which is a version that belongs to the plurality of versions of the data and that follows the first version; and generating a version chain by linking the first version and the second version to each other. Each of the first and the second versions may include data, a header identifying a version, and a data field containing data.
