Various embodiments of the present invention relate to a data processing method capable of controlling transmission and reception of data between electronic devices and controlling an electronic device based on transmitted and received data, and to an electronic device using the data processing method. According to various embodiments of the present invention, an electronic device comprises: a communication interface configured to establish wireless communication with another electronic device; a memory; and a processor electrically connected to the memory and the communication interface. The processor may comprise a device configured to perform: an operation of detecting a change in a state of an electronic device; an operation of transmitting first information associated with the change in the state to another electronic device using the communication interface; an operation of receiving second information associated with control of the electronic device from another electronic device using the communication interface; and an operation of performing the process of the electronic device using the second information. Various embodiments are possible.
