PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a photoacoustic imaging apparatus capable of suppressing the intrusion of air into a region between a light source part and a specimen surface regardless of a configuration in which the light source part including a light emission semiconductor element is arranged close to a detection part.SOLUTION: A photoacoustic imaging apparatus 100 comprises: a detection part 1 for detecting an acoustic wave AW; a light source part 2 arranged close to the detection part 1, including an LED element 22, and causing a detection target object Q to generate an acoustic wave AW by irradiating a specimen P with light and causing the detection target object Q in the specimen P to absorb the light; and a light source cover 3 covering the light source part 2 and in contact with the specimen P.
