In this detection result output method, first, fundamental distance information is acquired and retained in a state in which there is no human or other foreign object having the same properties as water, and if a puddle is detected, the detection result is retained. Further, current distance information for the present time is acquired and compared with the fundamental distance information, and if the current distance information and fundamental distance information are equivalent, the retained detection results are replaced with the current detection results. If the current distance information and fundamental distance information are not the same, the retained detection results are output as the current detection results.
