Device for mixing fluids for a catalytic reactor (1) with downward flow, said device comprising: - at least one substantially horizontal collection means (5) having a substantially vertical collection conduit (7) for receiving the fluids collected by said collection means (5); - at least one injection means (8) for a quenching fluid, opening into said collection conduit (7); - a mixing chamber (9) situated downstream of the collection means (5) in the direction of circulation of the fluids, said chamber comprising an inlet end directly connected to said collection conduct (7) and an outlet end (10) for discharging the fluids; and - a pre-distribution plate (11) comprising a plurality of perforations and having at least one chimney(13), said plate being situated downstream of said mixing chamber (9) in the direction of circulation of the fluids; characterized in that said, mixing chamber (9) has a parallelogram cross-section and comprises at least one diversion means (15) on at least one of the four internal walls of said mixing chamber (9) with parallelogram cross-section.
