The present invention provides systems, methods and devices that accurately detect the speed and direction of vehicles on railroad tracks, and which use the information to calculate arrival times.

1. A method of detecting a train location on a track, comprising:
connecting a railroad track circuit comprising
a first audio frequency transmitter coupled between a first rail of a railroad track and a second rail of a railroad track,a first audio frequency receiver coupled between the first rail of the railroad track and the second rail of the railroad track, the first audio frequency transmitter and the first audio frequency receiver being separated by no less than 20 feet; detecting and defining a steady-state railroad track condition; further defining the railroad track circuit to comprise a B-point coupler traversing between the first audio frequency transmitter and the first audio frequency receiver; computing via a computer processor at least one train metric.
