Example of a method for processing seismic data includes: applying a noise-attenuation filter on input data to derive a filtered version of the input data, wherein the filtered version of the input data is a signal model; calculating a difference between the input data and the signal model to identify the noise data that contains mostly noise and residual signals; deriving a multi-dimensional prediction filter from the signal model; using the multi-dimensional prediction filter to extract the residual signals from the noise data, wherein the filtered output is a residual-signal model; adding the residual-signal model to the signal model to form an updated-signal model that contains mostly signals with some residual noise; and repeating application of noise-attenuation filter to further attenuate the noise of the updated-signal model to produce final filtered data. |
