A calender device is provided with: first and second rolls which are adjacent to each other; a first shaft box which rotatably supports a shaft of the first roll; a second shaft box which rotatably supports a shaft of the second roll and is adjacent to the first shaft box; an adjustment part which adjusts the position of the first shaft box such that the first roll and the second roll move toward and away from each other; a sensor unit which lies between the first shaft box and the second shaft box and is in contact with both the shaft boxes; and a controller. The sensor unit includes a distance sensor which is provided with an expansion and contraction part that expands and contracts in a direction in which the first and second shaft boxes are arranged, a first member which holds the distance sensor, and a second member which is in contact with the expansion and contraction part and is mounted to the first member to be slidable along the expansion/contraction direction of the expansion and contraction part. The controller controls the adjustment part on the basis of the expansion/contraction amount of the expansion and contraction part.
