PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent a defective radio communication device from transmitting a radio signal to the outside.SOLUTION: A radio communication device is used in an advanced road traffic system that communicates sharing a prescribed single transmission channel. The radio communication device comprises: a radio unit 22 for transmitting a radio signal; and a control unit 21 for having the radio unit 22 selectively perform operation in a normal mode or a test mode. The radio unit 22 comprises: an antenna 32 for transmitting a signal to the outside in the normal mode; a dummy load 34 to which a signal for a test is transmitted in the test mode; a switching unit 33 for switching the transmission route of a signal to either the antenna 32 or the dummy load 34; and a detection unit 35 for detecting abnormality in the radio unit 22. When the detection unit 35 does not detect abnormality in operation in the test mode, the control unit 21 switches the transmission route to the antenna 32, and has the radio unit 22 perform operation in the normal mode.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 2
