A glass melt production device comprising a first conduit structure that connects a melting tank and a vacuum degasser, and a second conduit structure that is provided downstream of the vacuum degasser and that leads the glass melt to a molding means, characterized by the vacuum degasser comprising a rising pipe, a vacuum degassing chamber, and a descending pipe, by the first conduit structure comprising an upstream pit that supplies the glass melt to the rising pipe, by the second conduit structure comprising a downstream pit that accommodates the glass melt from the descending pipe, by the glass melt production device further comprising a third conduit structure that connects the upstream pit and the downstream pit, by the third conduit structure being provided with a closing means that blocks the flow of the glass melt in the third conduit, and by the third conduit structure or the closing means being provided with an emergency glass melt passage through which the glass melt can flow depending on the height of the liquid surface of the glass melt in the third conduit structure and in the vicinity of the closing means.
