Provided is an image pickup device comprising: a plurality of photoelectric conversion units which have light sensitivity in a wavelength band from 600nm to 2500nm; n-types (n is a natural number, at least 4) of wavelength filters for which the wavelength bands in which object luminous flux is allowed to pass are each different, and for which the wavelength bands that are passed by the respective filters include wavelength bands having light sensitivity; and an image data generating unit that generates image data using an image signal output from photoelectric conversion units, from among the plurality of photoelectric conversion units, that received the object luminous flux which passed through any of m-types (m is a natural number, at least three but less than n) of wavelength filters the combination of which is determined according to predetermined conditions. From among the respective wavelength bands of the m-types of wavelength filters, the wavelength band of the shortest wavelength side and the wavelength band of the longest wavelength side overlap. The combination of the m-types of wavelength filters is determined so that the wavelength bands that the m-types of wavelength filters respectively allow to pass include predetermined valid wavelength bands. |
