A driving assistance device of the present invention detects an object that exists around a vehicle, and detects a movement direction when the detected object relatively approaches the vehicle. The driving assistance device predicts a position to which the detected object will move. If the predicted movement position of the object is a predicted collision position at which the object and the vehicle could collide if the object relatively moves toward the predicted movement position, the driving assist device executes driving assistance including a process for avoiding a collision between the object and the vehicle, or a process for reducing damage caused by the collision. The driving assistance device sets a timing for executing the driving assistance on the basis of the movement direction and the predicted collision position. |
