A backlight unit and a liquid crystal display having the same. The backlight unit includes a lower cover (80), an interconnection coupling hole (84), an inverter board (90), and an interconnection (91). The lower cover (80) accommodates a printed circuit board (73), which mounts at least one light emitting diode thereon and is provided at one side thereof with a first connector (74). The interconnection coupling hole (84) is formed in a bottom surface (81) of the lower cover (80) at a position corresponding to the first connector (74). The inverter board (90) is disposed on a rear surface of the lower cover (80) to apply a driving voltage to the at least one light emitting diode. The interconnection (91) is provided at one end thereof with a second connector (92) to electrically connect the printed circuit board (73) to the inverter board (90). A coupling part (75) of the first connector (74) coupled to the second connector (92) is directed to the interconnection coupling hole (84), so the assembling time of the backlight unit and the liquid crystal display is reduced, thereby improving the productivity of the backlight unit and the liquid crystal display. |
