Provided are a method for generating an exercise-related community and an electronic device for providing the community. An embodiment of the present invention may include a host device which includes: a data management module which receives exercise data from the electronic device; a group management module which generates a group which requires a pre-established requirement and determines whether the electronic device is to be included in the group based on a result of determining whether the exercise data of the electronic device, which have been received from the data management module, meets the requirement; and a league management module which adjusts, when the number of the generated groups is at least two, composition of the groups based on a result of determining, at a pre-established interval, whether at least one among the electronic devices included in each of the groups meets the requirement the group requires. The present invention should not be limited to the abovementioned embodiment and may include another embodiment.
