A system 12 for providing power and data communication between a vehicle, such as an aircraft 10, and a ground system 20 includes an integrated power and communications cable 14 with end connector 16 which couples to a cooperating connector 18 on the aircraft. Power is supplied to at least one selected system on-board the aircraft. In addition, data is communicated between the aircraft on-board systems and the ground system via the integrated connector using fibre optic cable. The integrated connector may comprise a pin 150 which includes an outer conductive portion 152 and an inner optical communication portion 154 formed as a fibre optic. The pin may have threads 158 to facilitate securing of the pin within a housing on an aircraft. |
