A method of operating a fibre tensioner 40 for a creel is provided. The creel comprises a support frame 44 and carrying holder 46 rotatable about a rotational axis 48 on the support frame 44. The fibre tensioner 40 comprises an actuator 100 which acts upon a moveable load arm 54; a load strap 56 which in use is connected at one end 58 to the creel, and at its other end 60 to the load arm 54 to be arranged relative to the holder 46 to bear upon a bearing surface 50 of the holder 46. The method comprises the step of: operating the actuator 100 to adjust the load arm 54 position to tension the load strap 56, and thereby maintain a desired frictional resistance to the rotational motion of the holder 46. |
