<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To complete a method of carrying out polymerization using a light source with a small portion of the ultraviolet region and having high safety under work environments, as a photopolymerization method applicable to the industrial production of water-soluble polymers, to provide a water-soluble polymer utilizing the method, and to provide its manufacturing method. <P>SOLUTION: There is provided a polymer with a reduced amount of monomer remaining therein produced in a short period of time, by using a light source with a small portion of the ultraviolet region, and by irradiating with visible light a solution composed of aqueous medium containing a water-soluble monomer having one or more vinyl groups, an organic dye having an absorption band in the visible region and a peroxide as indispensable ingredients. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2013,JPO&INPIT |
