<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method in which hydrogen gas is efficiently obtained more easily than in conventional methods, and heat and products produced in reaction can be effectively recycled. <P>SOLUTION: A metal M and a metal hydride M'H<SB POS="POST">a</SB>(M and M' are the same or a different hydrogen absorbing metal; and a is the same as the valence of the metal M') are brought into contact with steam to produce oxides M<SB POS="POST">b</SB>O<SB POS="POST">c</SB>and M'<SB POS="POST">b</SB>O<SB POS="POST">c</SB>(wherein, b×(valence of the metal M or M')=2c) and to generate hydrogen gas, which is recovered. M and M' are preferably Mg, Al or Fe. The heat generated in the reaction may be used for producing steam from water, the steam being recycled to the reaction. A first layer including the metal M and a second layer including the metal hydride M'H<SB POS="POST">a</SB>are laid in a vessel and the steam is supplied so as to pass through the first layer and then the second layer before being discharged. The produced M<SB POS="POST">b</SB>O<SB POS="POST">c</SB>and M'<SB POS="POST">b</SB>O<SB POS="POST">c</SB>may be reduced and recycled as raw materials. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2013,JPO&INPIT |
