PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an imino chloride derivative production method and a phenylimidazole derivative production method which are highly safe and can achieve a high yield.SOLUTION: A compound represented by the general formula (1) and a chlorinating agent are reacted in the presence of a nitrogen-containing reaction aid, to produce an imino chloride derivative represented by the general formula (2).
