A display apparatus and a displaying method thereof are provided. According to an embodiment of the present invention, the display method of the display apparatus comprises: a step of configuring a portion of a display screen area as a user designation area through an area designation UI; and a step of displaying at least one between a GUI and the portion of the portion of the display screen area on the configured user designation area depending on a type of an event. The purpose of the present invention is to display information primarily in a user-preferred area.
