[Classes 2 (iii) and 15 (ii)] Azo dyestuffs are manufactured by tetrazotizing 4:4<1>-diaminodiphenylene-3 :3<1>- bis-glycollic acid and coupling with two molecular proportions of the same or different coupling components containing reactive methylene groups, e.g., pyrazolones, acetoacetic arylides of the benzene or naphthalene series or 2:4- dihydroxyquinoline. The products may be after treated in substance, or on the fibre with metal salts, e.g., copper or chromium salts. Examples describe the preparation of dyestuffs by coupling tetrazotized 4:41-diaminodiphenylene-3:3<1>-bis-glycollic and with : (1) two molecular proportions of 1-(31-aminophenyl)-3- methyl-5-pyrazolone ; the product dyes cotton brownish-red shades becoming yellowish red when after-treated with sodium dichromate and copper sulphate in acetic acid solution, and yields on unweighted silk a red after-coppered dyeing ; (2) one molecular proportion each of 1-(3<1>aminophenyl)-3-methyl-5-pyrazolone and 1 - phenyl-3-methyl-5-pyrazolone; the product dyes cotton and viscose red shades which may be after-treated with copper salts ; (3) one molecular proportion each of 1-(3<1>-aminophenyl)-3- methyl-5-pyrazolone and acetoacetanilide ; the product dyes cotton red shades becoming yellowish red when after-treated with copper salts ; (4) one molecular proportion each of 1- (31-sulphophenyl)-3-methyl-5-pyrazolone and 1- phenyl-3-methyl-5-pyrazolone ; (5) two molecular proportions of 1-(5<1>:7<1>-disulpho-2<1>-naphthyl)-3-methyl-5-pyrazolone, the product being treated in substance with an aqueous solution of copper sulphate ; the coppercompound dyes cotton red shades and may be used for dyeing the cotton in half-wool without dyeing the wool. Specification 14620/90, [Class 15], is referred to. 1-(5<1>:7<1>-Disulpho-2<1>-naphthyl)-3-miethyl-,5-pyrazolone is obtainable by reacting 2-naphthylhydrazine-5:7-sulphonic acid with acetoacetic ester. |
