789,052. Primary cells. MALLORY & CO., Inc., P. R. April 4, 1956 [April 25, 1955], No. 10268/56. Drawings to Specification. Class 53. The positive electrode of a primary cell comprises a mixture of a depolarizing permanganate and a conductive oxide. Barium, potassium or. calcium permanganate may be used with 20-80 per cent of, for example, oxide of copper, silver or cadmium or magnetic iron oxide or lead peroxide or vanadium pentoxide. The Specification describes a potential producing cell having a positive electrode of equal parts of barium permanganate and lead peroxide together with a small amount of wax or resin binder, a solid electrolyte of tin sulphate and a negative electrode of molybdenum or stainless steel. A number of such cells are stacked within a tubular insulating casing to form a battery and the stack is compressed and the assembled battery vacuum-impregnated through an aperture in the side of the casing. Specification 761,221 is referred to. |
